The solid D-series motor coupling will be replaced with a flexible rubber joint to eliminate engine vibrations. It is a coupling similar to the BOW55, with the exception of the input shaft in that they differ in size. The rear parts will use the same grooves found in the BOW55. The new BOW2512E will also feature a new engine, making them more energy efficient than the outgoing BOWxx12D models. To accommodate the flexible coupling, the height of the flange will increase by 30 mm. The openings in the flange allow for easy coupling control. Last but not least, the face of the flange will change from triangular to round, allowing the engine to be rotated in 90 ° steps compared to current 120 ° steps, and creating uniformity in the entire range of DC bow thrusters. The flexible coupling between tailpiece and engine eliminates vibrations.
